 DATS is short for Data Squad. It is a government affiliated group created for the purpose of looking into digital phenomena and guarding the real world from deadly Digimon. This task force seems to have sectors all over the world.
It has been discovered that the boundary between the Digital World and the real world is beginning to deteriorate, allowing for Digimon to enter the real world. A display of strong human emotion seems to be the root of how a Digimon emerges in the real world.
Whenever a Digimon signal is located, the force must neutralize the disturbance by reverting the Digimon into its most basic form, a DigiEgg. Any humans that have come in contact with or have seen a Digimon must have their memories erased by a small device that DATS agents carry with them.
Members of DATS include Yoshino ( & Lalamon), Thomas (& Gaomon), Marcus (& Agumon), Megumi (& PawnChessmon), Miki (& PawnChessmon), Commander Sampson (& Kudamon), Chief Yushima (& Kamemon).
When DATS returned from the Digital World after trying to meet with Merukimon, Kurata convinced Director Hashima that DATS was trying to work with the Digimon. As a result DATS was dissolved and Kurata seemed to take commanding position. As DATS escaped Kurata's new establishment, Kurata bombed the DATS headquarters destroying it entirely as he escaped to the Digital World.
